Before our first session, you’ll receive an orientation email with the links to our meeting, the personality and values assessment, and the scheduling link for future appointments.

Besides filling out the personality and values assessments, there isn’t much of anything to do before we meet.

For our first meeting, all you have to do is show up. Be yourself. Be curious. In my experience, those are the essential ingredients for a great session, whether it’s your 1st or 51st!

As far as what to wear, I tell my clients, “Messy hair, don’t care.” Come as you are!

It’s my job to manage pretty much everything else. I’ll watch the time. I’ll guide us and keep us on track.

I’ll usually start by asking how you are, followed by, “If we could accomplish one thing today, what would you want that to be?”

I’ve had clients say they had no idea what to talk about that day, but they came anyway. You know what? Those are always the most profound sessions. Somehow whatever they “weren’t thinking about” was exactly what needed to be uncovered in the safe coaching space.

Sometimes at the end of the session, you’ll have some type of homework to work on until the next time we meet. Unlike school, you’re not getting graded, and I provide a shame-and-judgment-free zone for you. So, whether you do it or not is entirely up to you.

A lot of listening! And note-taking. I type my notes on the computer, so you may hear the keyboard tapping!

I’m trained to hear what you are saying between the lines. My job is to be clear on your goals and guide you there as quickly and smoothly as possible… and to give you tools you can use for the rest of your life so that you’ll be equipped for anything that comes down the line.

As a former licensed therapist, I can say there is a place for therapy, and there is a place for coaching. Coaching definitely helps those who are ready for solutions and taking action.

Some people keep their therapist and add in a coach for extra support in their journey. I can always connect to your therapist for a cohesive treatment team if you permit me through a signed disclosure.

I have my master’s degree in clinical psychology with an emphasis on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.

I’ve worked in a private counseling clinic and have had my own private practice. I was a licensed therapist in two states (I move a lot!).

I am a credentialed and certified life coach and have invested thousands of dollars in training for mastering online marketing and the entrepreneurship mindset. It all came somewhat easy for me, as I’m a fourth-generation entrepreneur.

I will be guiding you on your path of self-discovery and equipping you with the tools to structure your solution in a way that fits into your values.

I’ve noticed that clients who meet more often make the fastest progress. Sometimes, if there’s too much distance between sessions, you can forget how to use the tools effectively that we discuss. Keeping sessions closer keeps the learning fresher.

I’m guessing it’s because this is new, and new things can feel overwhelming, scary, or uncomfortable at first.

I traded my therapist couch for a coaching laptop so I could take clients from out of state. And, as it’s turned out, I now have clients from all over the world.

It also was a natural opportunity for my life’s circumstances. Therapy licenses are state-mandated. Over the years, I was licensed in Wisconsin and Michigan. In 2015, my family moved to California. Instead of taking another board exam for another license, I decided to pivot my career.

Yes! I’m almost always in coaching. I believe that we perform at our best when we have a mentor or guide in our lives.

Growth is one of my top values, so therapy and/or coaching is usually on my calendar – along with other growth activities such as reading books, going to conferences, and taking courses.

I’ve been happily married for 30+ years and have three young adult daughters and a son-in-law. And a grand pup whom I adore!

That depends! Right now, I enjoy the proximity to our kids who live in California. And I’ve fallen in love with the sunshine, the warmth, and the ocean. I do miss the fall colors, though, and sometimes I even miss the snow!

I’d be disappointed if you didn’t if that’s a part of who you are! I expect you to be 100% yourself.
