About Coaching
Some days are like being on autopilot.
Youāre just trying to get through each day without forgetting something.
Then it hits you. You think, āWhat am I doing?ā
The angst of feeling ābehindā hits you right in the gut.
You start feeling desperate and scared that your dreams may never become a reality.
Your value lies in the essence of your existenceā¦
ā¦ not in the opinions of others or your achievements.
We arenāt the sum total of our achievements.
When our value or self-worth is rooted deeply in simply existing, we get our power back.
You canāt win it or lose it. You experience fewer and less intense lows because a problem isnāt linked to your value anymore.
The real problem comes between the knowledge of this and living it out. Thatās where I come in.
Here’s the reality of you and your future…
People rarely get to where they want to go without a coach, guide, or mentor in their corner to keep them focused and protected from the incessant pull of “shiny objects.”
They intend to focus on what they planned to do to meet their big goal, but instead, things come up like:
- A travel opportunity
- A family event to plan
- A new hobby that suddenly seems interesting
- Heck, even organizing a closet or remodeling a bathroom suddenly takes priority!
All great things, but not the ultimate goal.
When things get hard, it’s natural to turn your attention to something that looks like a quick solution or diversion. It’s a dopamine hit!
But it’s also incredibly unhelpful because instead of gaining traction and momentum, you’re starting from square one. Again!
“It’s easier to read a label from outside the jar.”
Maybe you’re familiar with this expression. It’s why I coach.
I help people from an objective, nonjudgmental position to see what they can’t see… so they can overcome self-limiting beliefs and get out of their own way.
I mostly see self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and self-sabotage creep in and hold people back from their true potential to reach their dreams.
On the one hand, I like to see when these things pop up because it means you’re putting yourself out there; on the other hand, without a coach, you can freeze up and stay stuck indefinitely.
I’ll equip you to blow past these hurdles.
People usually start thinking about getting a coachā¦
ā¦ when they realize they keep landing in the same dead ends ā or they feel like they canāt get off the hamster wheel no matter what they try.
And trying is just plain exhausting.
Youāre overwhelmed, and ideas of how to move forward just arenāt coming to you. Wellā¦ at least none that work.
And hereās the hard truth: If you donāt have an effective strategy, youāre going to remain in a constant state of overwhelm.
If you want the advantage, you’ll need outside support.
Because when you don’t have that support, you won’t be able to share your innermost fears and dreams. And if you don’t explore them, you’ll remain trapped in your own internal dialogue. And, let’s face it… that dialogue isn’t always encouraging.
Let me be the outside support and perspective that you need!
To start, we’ll identify where you are and where you want to go (and it’s okay if you don’t know where that is).
I have an introductory assessment process that I’ve been using with clients for over 20 years to help guide them to success.
People love it because they learn so much about themselves from the customized feedback I give them.
And they can use these discoveries for the rest of their lives to make decisions and work through roadblocks with confidence. It’s an empowering experience.
It’s important to start with these personality and values assessments because the earlier and the better I understand your perspective of the world, the faster I can help you experience the results you want.
You have only to fill out the assessments, and I do the educating to help you assimilate the information into useful, practical knowledge that will transform your world.
My custom method has my clients emailing me thank yous many years after we’ve finished to tell me how much they still use what they learned in our time together.
My method is simple but sheds light on your life in a way that you’re not used to seeing it. Having seen so many clients be empowered by my simple but effective method, I’m confident that you can have the same experience.
I have an honest but loving approach.
I’ve never lost a client to my honesty. In fact, I think it’s what makes them committed to the process. Thirty years ago, a fellow grad student of mine said, “She walks in with a smile on her face, but she means business.”
I’m gentle and direct. I’m here to help you, and sometimes that means you might not want to hear the feedback I have.
For example, I recently shared with a client that I see she drops away from her plan whenever she’s “not feeling it.”
“Not feeling it” is a common inner roadblock, and there are ways around it not to lose momentum.
And I’ve been known to help someone to build more self-care in their life. For the person whose work is play, that’s not always easy to receive. But because people make progress so fast when working with me, I have a serious value in my business that no one burns out on the way to their goals.
Here are your next stepsā¦
Step 1:Ā Contact me via email, phone call, or text as provided on this website. I will answer your call during business hours when Iām not with a client. I will call you back within 24 hours if I donāt answer immediately.
Step 2:Ā Weāll have a free chat to see where you are and where you want to be. At this point, either weāll decide to work together and move to Step 3, or I may refer someone whoās better suited to your needs.
Step 3:Ā Weāll get a date on the calendar for our first coaching session, and Iāll send you an introductory email with all the links youāll need for our work together.
Step 4:Ā Weāll meet via Zoom. Youāll have completed the easy forms that I emailed you, and Iāll start our first session with questions to get to know you better and to develop a clear sense of the type of success youād like to experience in your life.
About Me
I’ve been doing this a long time.
So, I know that I can help!
I have been working as a licensed therapist for most of my years, but when I moved from the Midwest to Southern California, I traded my therapist couch for a life-coaching laptop.
At the time, with two kids in college and one almost there, I used the opportunity to pivot into where I could help people outside my state and even my country.
Now, I can see clients anywhere in the world. I’ve had clients in all parts of the U.S., Europe, Canada, Mexico, and Australia.
I excel with helping people grow in confidence to live life with more ease and be less stressed and depressed.
I’ve lived a full life, and that helps me understand many people’s challenges.
I can barely count all the times I’ve moved. People often ask if it’s military! But when I was a kid, my dad was climbing the corporate ladder until he bought his own business(es). Then came college, grad school, marriage, various new jobs…
My struggles were mostly around grief and having to say goodbye a lot. Some other struggles were around making new friends every two years. I usually landed one solid friend in each town, and I learned sports and church helped make good friends.
As an adult, I learned to give myself a year to make some quality friends because I continued moving a lot even as an adult. The time up until that was usually pretty lonely. Over the years, I developed pretty good skills at making healthy friendships, but they still take time.
Having three wonderful young adult children and a son-in-law also gave me lots of experience with the challenges and struggles of helping kids grow up from trouble with friends to feeling lost with purpose and insecure, to navigating scoliosis treatment, and to navigating the challenging and exciting young adult years.
I’ve been a licensed therapist in Wisconsin and Michigan. Helping people has always been a joy. Now, as a coach, I love that I get to help people with that post-therapy step of creating a life that brings peace and fulfillment.
Fun fact: I had a photography business for fun when the kids were little. Back in the days of film! One time I got to take a picture of a national guard unit in front of their gigantic C-140 with a true panorama film camera while elevated in a cherry picker!
Through these life experiences, I’ve grown in my ability to see many sides, put my trust in God to the test, and see opportunities wherever possible.
I love learning and growing, and coaching is a perfect fit for that. My clients benefit from my growth because I’m always looking to do things more effectively to bring the most transformation possible to their lives.
Another important part of my life is giving back. The Bible often speaks to helping widows and orphans. Since moving to Los Angeles, where homelessness is so prevalent, I’ve begun supporting an organization that successfully helps families get out of homelessness, as well as serving in the homeless ministry at my church.
This is my dream and my mission…
It’s to empower you to build a life of joy, peace, and beauty through recognizing the agency and power you possess in your lives.
It’s my mission to equip you with the tools you need to feel confident as you move through self-limiting obstacles and build the life of your dreams.
Here are my values…
My values are faith, family, inclusivity, having a growth mindset, resourcefulness, self-compassion, clear and kind communication, and having a sense of agency.
Working with me means that you’ll feel fully accepted for who you are and challenged and equipped to be your best self.
When I have free time…
I like to explore new towns, try new foods, visit with my kids, or just chill in a reclining beach chair with my toes in the sand, and a good read or podcast.
A good read for me can range from a meaningful Brené Brown book to a Janet Evanovich comedy. And my favorite podcasts include anything related to business growth… or programs like “SmartLess” and “Armchair Expert.”
You can have a life that you love!
